San Marino's Lacy Park, Old Mill, and Taiwanese Sister City

San Marino is home to one of the world’s greatest cultural, research, and educational centers the Huntington Library. A private, nonprofit institution, The Huntington was founded in 1919 by Henry E. Huntington, an exceptional businessman who built a financial empire that included railroad companies, utilities, and real estate holdings in Southern California. Huntington was also a man of vision – with a special interest in books, art, and gardens.

“As a business manager in South Gate over the past ten years, I have been impressed with the dedication and leadership we now enjoy in our city. Many of our council members and city staff are personally involved in community organizations and programs designed to help guide the youth or our community toward higher education, self improvement and community service. As an active member of multiple community organizations, in particular Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, I have the opportunity to see our city leaders in action working with the businesses and citizens in our city to get them involved as partners in making our community a better place to work and live. I am proud and honored to have been allowed to be a part of such a fine city, especially during these difficult economic times.” - Jerry Brown, South Gate Chamber of Commerce President
