San Marino's Lacy Park, Old Mill, and Taiwanese Sister City

San Marino is home to one of the world’s greatest cultural, research, and educational centers the Huntington Library. A private, nonprofit institution, The Huntington was founded in 1919 by Henry E. Huntington, an exceptional businessman who built a financial empire that included railroad companies, utilities, and real estate holdings in Southern California. Huntington was also a man of vision – with a special interest in books, art, and gardens.

Community Building

The most recent example of community building in Rohnert Park is City Center Plaza, an “outdoor living room” adjacent to the City’s beautiful library.

Permit Streamlining

One of City Council’s primary goals is to move business and development forward by being business friendly. The permit process has been significantly streamlined, development review timelines have been reduced, and codes modified.

Business Stimulus and Marketing Programs

While streamlining of the development process has been a key Rohnert Park economic recovery activity, aggressive stimulus programs approved by the City Council have also played instrumental roles.

Broadening In-House and Community Communication

Rohnert Park leaders never underestimate the value of good communication. Everyone depends on it every day, and everyone knows what happens when communication breaks down or is non-existent.

City Livability

The City of Rohnert Park launched an Adopt-A-Park Program in 2009 to provide an opportunity for community members, volunteer groups, and organizations to become stewards of the City park system, and to sustain and improve the overall condition and quality of neighborhood parks.
